Do you have a physical storefront?

No, we are mobile only. All rentals are at Mountain Island Lake in Huntersville, NC. Our Raleigh address is for mailing only — please do not visit it.

How does the rental process work?

Book online and complete your digital waiver. We’ll meet you at the Neck Road Access Area in Huntersville, NC — look for our black kayak trailer with kayaks on it. We do not have a storefront. Delivery is free at our primary location (Neck Road Access Area).

Where can I go with the kayak or paddleboard?

Unlike other rental spots, you’re free to explore the entire lake! Popular areas include:

Latta Nature Preserve
Buzzard Rock Trail
Rural Hill Nature Preserve

Do you offer vacation home kayak delivery?

Available for Daily, Multi-Day, or Weekly Rentals only.

Vacation Home Drop-off: Before opening
Vacation Home Pick-up: After closing
Deposit hold and valid ID required.

Minimums:

$120 local
$200–$300 for locations 30+ minutes away
Small delivery fee for areas outside service zone

What is your weather policy?

If weather conditions are unsafe (storms, lightning, heavy rain, high winds), we will reschedule your rental. Light rain is generally okay, but we prioritize your safety. If the weather turns bad at the launch time, we will not allow you to go out. Please monitor conditions in advance.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept all major forms of payment. Payment is required prior to delivery.

What is the age requirement for renting?

An ID is required to verify renters are 18+.
Children ages 5–6 and up to 130 lbs may use a youth kayak.
Ages 10–12 through 17 can use an adult kayak depending on experience.
Under 5 years old must ride with an adult in a double kayak.
Our double kayak can accomodate a small child, a baby, and 2 adults as long as you are under the 500 lbs weight limit.
A parent/guardian must be present in the water with minors, and sign a liability waiver for them.

What are your hours?

Monday–Friday: 12:00 PM – 5:00 PM
Saturday–Sunday: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Before/after hours are by appointment only; additional fees apply. Same-day bookings are welcome, but 24-hour notice is preferred.

Do I need GPS for kayak rentals?

Yes — you must have a charged phone with GPS. We provide dry bags for your phone.

Is there a rental agreement/waiver?

Yes, every participant over 18 must sign a digital rental agreement/waiver. For minors, a parent/guardian must sign on their behalf.

Can I bring my pet?

Absolutely! Pets are welcome. Pets must wear a life jacket (not provided).

What are the weight limits?

Double kayak: 500 lbs
Single kayak: 275 lbs
Paddleboard: 350 lbs
Go Boat: 450 lbs
Youth kayak: 130 lbs

The double kayak can accommodate 2 people and a small child.

What should I bring?

We recommend:

Sunblock
Snacks
Bug spray
Water bottle
Mini cooler (fits on the kayak)
Bluetooth speaker (fits in the dry bag)
Water shoes, shorts, breathable clothing
Charged phone with GPS

Are there bathrooms available?

Neck Road Boat Ramp does not have restrooms. Public restrooms are available nearby at Latta Nature Preserve (6345 Sample Rd, Huntersville, NC 28078), about 12 minutes from the launch.
